Undergraduate (BA) Admissions

We offer two single-major study programmes in English Philosophy and English and American Studies, a single-major study programme in German called German Studies and a double-major study programme English and American Studies – German Studies as well as a teacher-training programme Teaching of English Language and Literature and of German Language and Literature, both of which are taught in English and German. Additionally, it is possible to combine English and American Studies or German Studies with any other field on offer (see the complete list of our BA programmes) but the other part of the programme is taught in Slovak.

Admission Requirements

1) Study programmes of Philosophy, English and American Studies, Teaching of English Language and Literature, Journalism and Psychology:

  • a high school (secondary school) education
  • an acceptance of the Catholic nature of the university and the faculty
  • an entrance exam consisting of: Philosophy (an oral interview, Skype interview is possible); English and American Studies and Teaching of English Language and Literature (an oral interview for applicants outside Europe, Skype interview is possible); Journalism (an oral interview, applicants should also submit 2 examples of their, preferably, journalistic work); Psychology (a written exam and an oral interview)

2) All the other study programmes (including German Studies and all teacher-training programmes):

  • a high school (secondary school) education
  • an acceptance of the Catholic nature of the university and the faculty
  • applicants for the study programmes of Slovak Language and Literature and Teaching of Slovak Language and Literature who graduated outside Slovakia should document a sound knowledge of Slovak (at least B2 level)

Applicants must submit:

  • an application form (printed or online application form)
  • a curriculum vitae
  • a verified copy of their high school (secondary school) diploma (a document of their high school education); foreign graduates are required to submit a copy of a recognition of foreign education
  • a receipt of payment of the application fee

All the documents (if an applicant makes use of an online application form, it must still be printed, signed and delivered by mail) must be delivered by mail to:
